The Valley Line: La Cañada Kiwanians and ‘floaters’ hold summer gatherings
Ellie Wildermuth was the gracious host of the recent Kiwanis Club’s summer social gathering. The view from her hilltop home was absolutely spectacular and enjoyed by all.
A country-western theme prevailed and many of the folks attending showed up wearing their cowboy or cowgirl duds.
The food was catered by Los Gringos Locos and included barbecue ribs, chicken, beans, and mac and cheese. A buffet of salads included cole slaw pasta and a green salad. There were also tasty appetizers of different cheeses, nuts, fresh veggies, salsa and guacamole.
The bartender for the event was Woody Walker. As it was also his birthday, there was a big celebration going on. His birthday cake was red velvet served with lots of ice cream.
Providing entertainment for the evening was Doug Houston Rock’n’country, a one-man show that was terrific.
Terry Walker was in charge of the party planning and she did a fabulous job.

Steve and Elysa Del Guercio hosted the recent La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn. Happy Hour at their lovely Commonwealth Avenue home.
Guests enjoyed chatting about the their summer news and talking about their vacation getaways.
It was great fun to create pizzas with many different kinds of toppings in the Del Guercios’ outside pizza oven.
