“Superior Donuts,” the CBS project based on Tracy Letts’ Chicago-set, Steppenwolf play, has grabbed veteran actor Judd Hirsch as the new co-lead.
Deadline reports that Hirsch will star alongside Jermaine Fowler in the new pilot, replacing “Spotlight” co-star Brian d’Arcy.
“Superior Donuts” follows the relationship between Arthur (Hirsch), the owner of a doughnut shop in a gentrifying Chicago neighborhood, his new employee (Fowler) and their patrons.
The cast features Second City alum David Koechner (“Anchorman,” “The Office”) as well as comedian/actors Maz Jobrani and Rell Battle, who was promoted from his guest starring role in the previous pilot.
