Deadmau5 and Steve Aoki will headline the Spring Awakening festival, which heads to the University Village area in June, festival reps announced Thursday.
More than 100 electronic music acts are scheduled to play on five stages June 10-12 at Addams/Medill Park, near the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Ashland Avenue. A spokeswoman with the Chicago Park District, which approves permits for events in city parks, said an agreement is in place to hold the festival there.
The announcement comes two weeks after festival organizer React Presents said plans to hold the festival in Jackson Park on the South Side fell through because of a conflict with the University of Chicago’s convocation ceremony, slated to be held near the park the same weekend.

The festival is usually held at Soldier Field, but the stadium is one of a few venues hosting Copa America Centenario, an international soccer tournament, in June.
“The process of orchestrating a festival of this size within the city of Chicago is staggering. We care very much about the communities in which we look to hold these events, and work closely with city officials to ensure that they run smoothly,” Spring Awakening founder Jeff Callahan said in a statement.
The lineup includes Above and Beyond, Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, Dillon Francis, Carnage, Nicky Romero, Dvbbs, Dash Berlin, Zeds Dead, Jamie XX, RL Grime, Flying Lotus, Crystal Castles, Flux Pavilion, Gramatik, Gesaffelstein, A-Trak and Madeon.
Spring Awakening organizers announced the move to Jackson Park in February and began selling three-day wristbands for $169, plus fees. In a February press release, reps said there were plans for six stages, with two main stages featuring live electronic acts and DJs.
A rep said Thursday the plan was always to have five stages with two main stages. Three-day wristbands now sell for $189, plus fees.
