Comedy Central has picked up an 8-episode TV series called “Why? With Hannibal Buress” from the Chicago-bred comic.

The show, which will tape in front of a live audience, will feature Buress “answering the burning questions on his mind through stand-up, filmed segments, man-on-the-street interviews and special in-studio guests.”

This isn’t the first time Buress was on the cusp of nabbing a TV series. In 2011 he was developing a show with Jonah Hill for Fox, and last year he made a pilot for Comedy Central that was a riff on “Dirty Jobs” called “Unemployable.” (Neither project made it to air.)

Buress has a long relationship with Comedy Central. He shot a standup special last year at the Chicago Theatre for the cable network and co-stars on its hit show “Broad City.”

A premiere date was not announced.
